Hello everyone,
I just realized how long it has been since my last update and I am sorry to leave
everyone hanging for so long! Things have been improving steadily and there
haven't been any more complications which is excellent.
- Graeme is done with the oxygen now. He is now showing an oxygen saturation of 99 on room air and is breathing normally again.
- The swelling is basically gone now which makes it much easier for Graeme to move around. We've even been for walks down to the cafeteria so I can grab some lunch.
- Anyone who said this would be a good diet plan was correct! But not in a good way. Graeme has lost quite a bit of weight. Hopefully, we can get him on real food soon. He is still only allowed clear fluids - popsicles, Jell-O, water, juice. A few other things come on the tray like ginger ale and broth but Graeme isn't a fan of those.
- The feeding tube is now turned off at night so Graeme has been sleeping much better. He still has a couple short naps during the day though.
- There is an MRI scheduled for Monday morning so hopefully, we can get a better idea of how much physical damage has been done to the pancreas. That won't tell us how much functional damage as been done though. The pancreas may just find another route to perform the same function. We'll just have to wait and see on that part.
- Graeme won't be switching hospitals. They won't move him just for our convenience. He would need to experience further complications and we certainly don't want that! We'll just put up with the drive.
- It has been three weeks today since Graeme was admitted and we still don't know when he will be discharged.
- The boys have been in a little more frequently now that Graeme has more energy and is feeling better. We play cards, read Harry Potter and just enjoy spending some time together.
Thank you all for your continued support and good wishes. We really, really appreciate it.
Take care,
Gail
