Fruit Jumbles

1 cup candied cherries
1 cup chopped dates
1 cup chopped nuts
1 cup raisins
1/4 cup cut mixed peel
1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1 1/2 cups butter or margarine, softened
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1 cup granulated sugar
3 eggs

3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. cloves

Measure first 6 ingredients into bowl. Mix thoroughly.

In another bowl, cream butter and both sugars together. Add eggs 1 at a time, beating after each addition.

Stir remaining ingredients together. Add and mix well. Add fruit. Mix together. Drop by spoonfuls onto greased baking sheet. Bake in 375° oven for 8-10 minutes. Makes 10 dozen.

Notes:

  1. Gail skips the nuts
  2. For a convection oven, bake for 350° for 10 minutes
  3. Make one batch at a time. Otherwise, it's too difficult to stir
  4. Freeze well
